Wells Fargo Building

Following completion of the adjacent Clorox Building, Mr. Brubaker was assigned refinancing and asset management responsibility for the Wells Fargo Building, a 225,000 square foot building which was the first element of Oakland City Center.  Oakland City Center is a 15-block urban renewal project at Broadway and 14th Street in downtown Oakland.  Most of the 15-block area had been cleared prior to his arrival.  The plan included five office buildings, a hotel and a regional mall with three major department stores, all directly connected to the adjacent San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) station at one end of the project and the freeway at the opposite end.

For Grubb & Ellis Development Company, Mr. Brubaker raised equity capital in a second round of financing for the completion of the project, recasting the existing limited partnership, of which Grubb & Ellis was sole General Partner, to allow for the admission of additional limited partners.  During that period he also provided asset management, marketing and leasing services to the project.

Mr. Brubaker returned three years later to form a partnership with Grubb & Ellis Development Company for the development of an office building in downtown San Francisco in joint venture with Bramalea Limited.
