The spell that is
cast at the first curve of the long drive is deepened by the lushly planted landscape and
sculptures. One is drawn toward the southern exposure, the light and the view of the
mountain at the far end of the lake. Granite boulders line the water falls and slate
walkways abundant with flowers and manicured gardens gently slope to the
waterfront. An
extraordinary log home designed to blend in a very natural and seamless way with the rich
natural surroundings, and exudes a real understanding of informal design. A canopied porch
runs the length providing a cozy vantage point for outdoor dining. Rebuilt with such integrity, this
successful
preservation has mastered both the spirit of a communal gathering place, and of natural
intimacy. The entire lower floor functions as a huge master suite. The floor to ceiling
wood framed glass doors open onto expansive views, two-tiered decks and stairways flanked
by lawns, hot tub and guest house. On the first floor, glazed log walls and granite
fireplace create a quality of warmth but many added new features bridge character with 90s
functionality. This home is furnished to perfection and most of the sculptures remain with
the property. A home that is nothing more or less than it had to
